Cookie Recipe

Porcelain Cookies
*
*
I was going to share this recipe with you around Christmas but ran out of time. So here it is in time for Valentines Day. This is my Favorite cookie Recipe of all time. My Aunt always made these cookies at Christmas time and that's one of my favorite childhood memories is being in her kitchen helping with the cookies. So I do make these for my kids 3 times a year Christmas, Valentines Day and Easter. This year they are getting them 1 extra time. I have a SBS this weekend and these keep and travel really well so cookies it is. Okay onto the cookie recipe!
Porcelain Cookie
Make around 32 cookies. I always double the batch for family and friends.
Bake at 350 deg
*
*
3/4 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
*
*
Icing
3 cups powdered sugar
5 teaspoons lemon juice
5 tablespoons water
*
*
Start at top and mix together 1 at a time from the top of the list to the bottom. Store in a large bowl with lid in fridge for 30 min. Take out divide into 4 parts and roll out (3/8 inch thick) cut with cookie cutters, bake 6 min @ 350 deg. Take out of oven let cool on pan 1-2 min then place onto cooling rack. Use a pastry brush to brush on icing before cookie cools all the way. Let dry on cooling rack icing with harden. This makes them very easy to travel with. They stack and store very nicely.

Friendship Tag book.

Friendship Tag Book Gift Set.
I'm not much for New Years Resolutions but I did tell myself that I have some really great Friends in my life and I need to tell them how much their friendship means to me every chance I get this year. So this is what I came up for as a B-day gift to a couple of very good friends.
*
*
I made two of these this one went to my good friend Kathi aka Kathi127 on SCS. The other that I forgot to take pics of was for Dawnmarie aka msjvb on SCS. They both loved the books which made me very happy.

The tag is made with a sizzix die 38-0946 Super Scallop Tag. I used this to cut chipboard found at a local paper distributor. Used the same die and cut the DP which is Basic Grey Wisteria (my Fav) used mod podge to glue together chipboard and DP. Then I use a foam pain brush and white paint and pain the edge and the hole in the top of the tag (I use a q-tip for the hole). I used my Bind It All to bind this book one of my Fav tools it has paid for it's self many time over. Then used stamps and lots of ribbon, brads, flat back pearls to finish up this book. The tin is from SU I used my Nesties to create the belly band and SU cardstock. Really a easy project to do but very time consuming. Lots of steps and drying time with liquid glue and paint but a TRUE FRIEND is always worth the effort!

Nestie Storage

When life gives you lemons make lemonade!
When we moved into our new home here on Ft Meade the movers broke several of my picture frames and being the hoarder that I am I couldn't toss them. I put them in Hubbies man cave so they wouldn't be in my way lol. Anyhoo my friend Jeaneen placed an order with Oriental Trading company for some magnet sheets. She asked our stamping group if anyone wanted to do a group order YEAH! So this is what I came up with...
Broken 10x13 picture frame.
Step 1:
Step one take cardboard out of frame clean any dust and or glass off cardboard.

Step 2:
Lay magnet sheet under cardboard and trace line, cut off extra.

This is what the magnet sheets look like.

Step 3:
Peal off backing no need for glue the adhesive is pretty good.

This is what it looks like after you get it covered with magnet material.
Step 4:
Cut your Designer Paper 10X9
and two 10x2 pieces.

Step 5:
Cover area with mod podge (I like matte finish).
Step 6:
Lay down your designer paper onto glue. Rub out any air bubbles and let dry. After it's dry trim edge with scissors don't worry about it being perfect it's not going to show
after it's in the frame.

Step 7:
Coat the Designer Paper with another layer of Mod Podge (matte used here). Let dry and do it again this just protects your paper and it's optional but a good idea. Let dry between coats.
After project is dry move to step eight.

Step 8:
Put your frame back together and hang.
Add your Nesties and you are done! I just love how these came out.

This is really a simple project.
Hope you enjoy!
Supplies needed:
10x13 Picture frame (no glass)
Mod Podge (matte)
foam brush
2. 8.5x11 Adhesive Magnet sheets (oriental trading)
Designer Paper 10x9 and 2 @ 2x10 (Stampin Up Morning Sunshine)

Jan, Baltimore SBS card

I'm loving this set!

*

Over the weekend I hosted a SBS and bought lots of new to me rubber stamp sets! I payed $3 for this set and just LOVE IT!

*

This is the card I came up with for the upcoming Baltimore SBS. It's very simple and easy and not really my style but I do really like it. Maybe because I'm so ready for spring.

*

To make this card I used the shaving cream technique for the background. Then used my SU markers to color the image and then misted it with water and stamped it to give it that runny water color look and I think it works. I've been taking a lot of crap about my swap cards being to complicated (Sara) so this one is REALLY EASY! I already made the background papers so it should be a 2 min card for them. Love ya' Sara!

I spent some time over our Christmas weekend
moving around my craft room. Needed to fit more stuff in!
It's still a mess I really need to downsize some of this stuff.
It's just hard to do when I really do use most of it.
Thanks for looking at my mess!

Snowman Soup

It's not Christmas without Snowman Soup!

*

*

These are for the boy's teachers and bus drivers. They are fun little gifts. Pretty quick and easy to make. Just lots of steps.

I could have saved lots of CS by just making the bag topper but I think this looks better.

*

To make these little gifts you need to cut your CS base 6 1/8 x 11in. Score @ 8 1/2. Fits the Large SU cello bag. Also used the small cello bag for the marshmallows on the inside of the package.

*

Stamps used SU snowman wheel, Brown Stazon ink pad, CS is SU, SU markers, BG Figgy Pudding DP, SU cello bags, Amuse Ribbon, Offray Ribbon, Gold gel pen, Star Dust gel pen, Red Line tape, Red line sticky dots, Hot Cocoa packet, Chocolate Bar, Candy Cane, Marshmallows,

*

LOL! OMG always proof read when downloading from SCS! LOL must redo the tag.
*

Merry Gift Giving!
